A LONG TRADITION OF CRAFTSMANSHIP

As the descendant of a line of blacksmiths in the previous century, Eugène Ouvrard continued the family business which he passed on to his son, André, in 1964. It should be noted that the two grandfathers of Camille, the current Managing Director, were both blacksmiths in their respective villages, one in La Creulière and the other in La Pillaudière. Beyond the anecdote, this common thread reflects the company’s business culture and strong commitment to metalworking.

THE 2ND GENERATION

An enterprising spirit, André developed the business: his knowledge of welding and metalworking naturally led him into the plumbing and heating sectors. At the time, these trades were still very rare in the region. This was the beginning of diversification. André's two sons then joined the company. In 1979, the three of them created the limited liability company (SARL) “Ouvrard André et Fils”.

THE BOOM OF THE 90S

Faced with the decline of the “forging” sector, the company directors searched for new business directions. In 1985, the company started to produce and market aluminium structured verandas and patio coverings. The success of this new business line became evident. The company split in two in 1990 - plumbing, heating, and electricity under the Ouvrard brand on one side and the creation of the Concept Alu brand on the other - relocating to Bois Joly Z.I (industrial estate) in Les Herbiers.

THE STORY PICKS UP THE PACE

From that moment on, Concept Alu made a name for itself with its innovative, high-quality products, which quickly brought the brand into the public eye.

AND ONE INNOVATION FOLLOWED ANOTHER :

With anodised aluminium, only the grey colour is possible. Concept Alu rapidly adopted powder-coated aluminium solutions offering various colours with a 10-year guarantee, while also providing solidity and attractive designs.

Arrival of the "THERMO TOP" (self-supporting sandwich panel). Attractive and insulating in winter and summer, this new product has made the veranda a success by replacing polycarbonate structures. Concept Alu is the No. 1 veranda specialist in France to use this type of roofing, which is particularly well suited to the region.

Concept Alu is revolutionising the world of verandas by introducing the first ever INTEGRATED ROLLER SHUTTERS into the structure. Registered patent (no. 9909700).

Creation of Concept Alu's own range of top quality “THERMAL BREAK SYSTEM” for SLIDING FRAMES.

Adaptation of integrated roller shutters on the veranda and TUBULAR RAFTERS WITH DOUBLE ADJUSTMENT from 16 to 82 mm.

Concept Alu, the 1st provider to integrate SELF-CLEANING GLASS options to facilitate window maintenance.

Registered patent for “Lumisol”, a new roof shutter concept combining light and insulation.

Launch of a new SWIMMING POOL ENCLOSURE design under the UP brand (patented sliding dome system).

Design and creation of a “VERANDA VILLAGE” in a brand-new building including a manufacturing workshop of 8,800 m2 over a 4.5 Ha area, near the A87 motorway. This brand-new showroom concept is the first to present different models of verandas, furnished and decorated to help you visualise your own.

Concept Alu has created EXTANXIA, the first modern “veranda-extension” with a flat roof (-5% slope; in compliance with DTU French standards).

2009

Launch of the SOLEYA veranda, equipped with photovoltaic panels; the sun is worth its weight in gold! Registered patented system. Concept Alu was awarded the “Entreprendre en Vendée” prize in the Architectural, Landscape and Environmental Quality category. Concept Alu shows its commitment to protecting the planet.

Launch of the HOMÉA veranda, the ultimate trend. Innovation with the creation of a multifunctional joinery, an adjustable post adjoining the room of the house to the veranda and providing a harmonious and attractive connection between the 2 rooms.

Launch of the first range of low-energy verandas. Designed for perfect integration into your home, it meets the thermal insulation and technical criteria required for low-energy buildings.

Concept Alu is the first company on the veranda market to offer the revolutionary SLIDING WINDOW system, with retractable glass panels that slide into the walls, thus providing a large outdoor opening.

Development of the first ROTATABLE SUNSHADE for verandas. The Brisoletto not only creates real added value in terms of architectural design but, by filtering the light, it also offers the possibility to create subtle and pleasant lighting atmospheres. That same year, Concept Alu developed the LIAISON IN_OUT (patented system), a threshold that facilitates access to the veranda by creating a single level between the inside and outside. Compliant with access for disabled persons regulations.
